A Big THANK YOU!!

Over the weekend, I hit a few (big) milestones… well, big for me.

I hit 100 likes on my Facebook page and 300 followers on Twitter!!

                                                 WOW!!

I’m going to celebrate my milestones with a little gift to all of you. I am going to release the next part of my novel on my Facebook page tomorrow night. For those of you who don’t use Facebook, I will post a shorter version on my Wattpad page.

Check back on my block tomorrow evening for an update and then be one of the first to read the next installment of my novel.

To Beta Read or Not to Beta Read...

So, how’s it going? 

I’m anxious and excited at the same time. I’m excited because I have a finished manuscript and I have sent it out to a tiny portion of the world. The Beta readers still have my book and while I have gotten some feedback, I am anxious because the majority of them haven’t said one word about it. Not one word. Ugh!

Do I take that as a bad sign (that they hate it and don’t want to tell me)? Did they get bored and stop reading it? Did the length scare them off? It's actually double-spaced so it’s not as scary as I thought. Are they too busy to read it? Did they read it and not know how to critique it? I want to ask them all of the above but I want to give them time and not feel rushed.

Is there anyone out there who is willing to take a look at it, really read it and give it an honest critique in a timely manner? Yes, when I mean honest, I mean HONEST. Don’t hold back: if it stinks, tell me. If parts need to be chopped out, tell me. If scenes need to be rewritten, tell me. If it’s too over-the-top, tell me. If parts don’t make sense, tell me. If… well, you get my point. I can take it. All I ask is that you don’t be rude and offensive in your critique. Otherwise, tear it apart or shred it if you have to. But, on the other hand, if you really like something, don’t be afraid to tell me!  :)

I also think I should get a teen’s perspective (or two) on my book. Are there any teens out there who want to do a Beta read and critique the book? First come, first served!  :)

I’ll be posting an excerpt on my blog soon so keep checking under the My Writing tab for your first sneak peak of my novel.

In the meantime, I will go back to rereading/partial editing/writing the prequel novel and try to focus my energy on something constructive while I wait the Beta readers to get back to me.

Patience can be a maddening virtue.   :)

EDITING IS DONE!

YES! You heard me! My first round of editing is done and I have to say… I think I wrote more than I took out!

WHAT?!

How is that possible? I actually deleted pages of writing. Sigh… I did not plan on having a novel this large. How large, you ask? It’s 145,000 pages <ducking my head to avoid projectile missiles>. Yes, my book is a whopping 500 pages (or 498 to be precise). I don’t even want to think about that right now.

So, I’m going to return to my manuscript and plug away at Editing: Round 2. There has to be at least something I can cut, right? I hope so. I don’t think that those people with 100,000 word limits would be too happy to see my showing up with my behemoth in hand (well, maybe with a wagon).

I’m going back in… I’m jumping into the murky depths of the pages and hope to come back out victorious.

Send help if you don’t hear back from me…  glub, glub, glub.

IT’S DONE!! IT’S DONE!! IT’S DONE!!

Can you tell by the excitement in my voice that I finally finished writing my book?! I’ve dancing around my house like a crazy person and I fear that I’m not about to stop anytime soon.  :)

I’ve been working my butt off to get the last of the scenes to mesh up and align accordingly. I’ve even skipped watching my favorite TV shows in order to keep my writing on track. But it has paid off because I’M DONE WRITING MY BOOK! 

Okay, okay… I’ve taken several deep breaths to calm down and come back to the computer. I’ve decided to reward myself and take a two day break from writing and then I’m going to read the whole thing while making editing notes. I don’t think I’ve read the entire book in a long time. It was definitely last year.

So, enjoy your Valentine’s Day/President’s Day weekend and I hope to give you more good news soon.  :)

Now if I only could find time to catch up on those TV shows…
